Romança per a tenora i orquestra simfònica (PB)

In the year 2000, to celebrate the centenary of the invention of the tenora, several concerts and events were held around Catalonia. The Banda Municipal de Barcelona, wished to take part in all that celebration and its management commissioned several works; this one amongst them. It seemed appropriate to write this Romança, expressly composed for, and especially dedicated to the tenora soloist of such a prestigious Barcelona institution; he who premiered it, Jaume Vilà. It features possibilities both for the show of the soloists technical and expressive qualities and the accurate, brilliant backing part of the accompanying ensemble.
This piece was premiered in July 2000 in a concert in the Plaça del Rei, in Barcelona. Immediately, I personally wrote the Tenora and Cobla transcription Later, Jordi Molina asked for a Tenora and Symphonic Orchestra transcription for its recording. This recording was done by the Orquestra de l’Acadèmia del Gran Teatre del Liceu, with Jordi Molina himself as the soloist and under the conduction of Master Salvador Brotons. ( IX/ 2008)
