Bachelor’s degree in flute performance from SUNY Purchase, scholarships in chamber music to the Yale Summer School of Music and the Conservatoire Americain of Fontainebleau, and in composition to the Conservatoire Americain of Fontainebleau and the Aspen Fectival (USA). Master’s degree in teaching from CUNY Lehman College. Composition studies with John Corigliano and Narcís Bonet.
Multifaceted flutist-composer-arranger Peter Bacchus lives in Barcelona and has performed as flute soloist with the “Orquesta de Radio y Televisión Española”, the Orquestra de Cambra del Teatre Lliure and the Orquestra Catalana de Cambra. He performs regularly in his own country, the United States, and in other European countries. He has various recordings both as performer and of his own music, and his activities as composer run the gamit from music for television, to theater and classical music. Amongst other activities, he served as musical director for the National Theater of Catalunya in the critically acclaimed production of “Cal Dir-ho?”, directed by Josep Maria Flotats. Currently he is on the faculty of the international festival of opera, orchestral and chamber music, the “Lucca Opera Theater”, where he teaches, conducts and writes.
