These eight pieces form the last group of songs based on Joan Maragall’s poetry. Though the texts are all by the same poet, this group cannot strictly be considered a cycle as they are not connected by one poem. Berceuse de Grieg (Grieg’s Lullaby) is a lullaby written in 1948. The first piece in this group, it has an elaborate rhythmic accompaniment.
The flair and lightness of the accompaniment to Jugant (Playing), a song written in 1948 and dedicated to Conxita Badia, takes the listener back to a time playing at the kindergarten.
The music Narcís Bonet composed in 1951 for Nit d’abril (Full Moon on an April Night) offers a very original use of bright octaves accompanying the singer.
The atmosphere created by the songs he wrote in 1949, Gener (January) and Per la boira (In the Mist) is simply wonderful.
Comença la tardor (Autumn Begins in the Fields), written in 1949, has a very Debussy air to it.
Nodreix l’amor (Nourish Love) was composed in 1964. It follows a harmonic style quite different from the other pieces.
Written in 1951 for soprano and alto (or mezzosoprano), L’hort (The Vegetable Garden) is the only duet Narcís Bonet composed.
