This book contains three original pieces for recorder and piano and two traditional Catalan ballets that have been provided with a piano accompaniment. The three original pieces have been created with educational purposes in mind for early year recorder students in the school of music. Despite their apparent simplicity, they are true concert pieces that aim to give a repertoire involving works of this level a certain expansion and stringency in terms of performance.
The two ballets Dansa de Castellterçol and Melodies de ball pla de Llavaneres should have formed part of the books of the Frullato and Alto Frullato repertoire from the same publisher, but due to their length they could not be included. These traditional dances, authentic suites of melodies, are very much alive in Catalan tradition and it is incomprehensible that, despite their cultural and musical interest, they have not been brought into the instrumental repertoire of music schools.
