We decided it was essential to make a video recording of all the songs in Catalan to allow the listener to follow the sheet music and song on the screen and to enable these compositions to be heard and enjoyed around the world. Various members of the Bonet family have participated, lending their voice to these poetic readings. We have grouped the pieces into different cycles following the organization Narcís Bonet himself used.

Diades d'amor (Days of Celebration of Love). Based on poems by Joan Maragall (1860-1911)

I began the composing of Joan Maragall’s Days of Celebration of Love with the second song of the cycle, Tota ella és una flor molt delicada (She Is a Very Delicate Flower), which came to me all at once on a freezing afternoon on 28 November 1949, having just arrived in Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger. My teacher proposed including this song in the first concert of UNESCO’s Banc d’Essai des Jeunes Compositeurs, which took place on 1 February 1950, presented by Roland Manuel.
The other songs followed: Amb la dolça i tranquil·la criatura (About the Sweet and Mild Girl) (Paris, 19/12/49-23/05/50), Quin dia avui (What a Day, Today!) (Paris, 25/03/50-Llucalcari, 26/09/50) and Avui he vist (Today I Have Seen) (Paris, 27/01/51-24/11/51). These four songs were first performed by Conxita Badia on 20 April 1952 in Barcelona, within the framework of the Association of Friends and Disciples of Joan Massià and Maria Carbonell. I finally completed the cycle, dedicated to Conxita Badia, with the last song, Tot l’estiu l’he enyorada (All Summer Long I Missed Her) composed on 4 July 1952 in Fontainebleau.
Today, after over fifty years, and thanks to the understanding of Francesca Galofré, director of Dinsic Publicacions Musicals, and my wife, Hélène Giraudier, who decided to dig them up and share them, the first edition of these songs has appeared, composed when I was 16 to 19 years old. Now I dedicate them to her.
