This string quartet consists of four separate short pieces, although their order is that of the movements of a classical string quartet. The manner of their writing airs both virtuosity and dramatism. Without being “dodecaphonic”, the pieces present this music’s dramatism.

The first piece is a fast, virtuosity-ridden movement. Second, is a slow movement shaped by a descendant, two-score, conjunct motion phrase. Third, and in the role of a scherzo, is a rule-breaking French waltz with an end of the century flavour. Last is a fast movement. Its material is presented within the three first measures, wherefrom stems the rest of the piece and which makes the movement have a tripartite form
