Gilbert Price
Professor Gilbert Price was born in Karachi (Pakistan) even though his nationality is Australian, where he developed his career as a singer. In 1961, in Melbourne, he suffered from a very serious bout of hepatitis and to save his life, he had to be treated with cortisone.
After the two or three years that it took him to recover, he suffered a fast and enormous loss of weight, produced by the hepatitis, which provoked a huge debilitation of the muscles that affect breathing. This made it impossible for him to keep singing. In 1962, convalescent from his sickness, he arrived to Barcelona, where he taught English in the Escuela de Idiomas Modernos of the University of Barcelona and in some other entities for a few years. In 1974, he restarted giving singing classes and this is what he is doing currently.
The interpreters María Ángeles Sarroca, Francesca Roig, Elisenda Cabero, Meritxell Olaya, Dalmacio González, Pere Gilabert, Salvador Molins, Mariano Viñuales and Joan Cabero, singers who habitually perform on the Spanish stage, have benefited from his mastery.
