A composer, pianist and conductor, he was born in Barcelona and undertook his musical studies at the Acadèmia Ars Nova there. He studied singing with Ferran Gimeno and choral conducting with Pierre Cao, Manel Cabero and Gaby Baltes in Barcelona and in Mallorca, and with Simon Johnson in England, where he also worked on orchestral conducting at the Canford Summer School of Music with George Hurst and Michael Rose. He lived in Amsterdam from 1990 to 1993, where he studied orchestral conducting at the Sweelinck Conservatorium with Joop Von Zonn, being awarded his conducting certificate there. His stay at that music school enabled him to pursue further studies in choral conducting, musical analysis and the piano.
Being interested in musical education, he is a teacher at the IPSI (Institució Pedagògica Sant Isidor) in Barcelona and at that centre's Music School, where his activity as a composer has led to the composition of various works suitable for the various levels of the students, such as his children's cantatas El país de la no-memòria (The land of no-memory), On és la música' (Where is music') and El planeta del mar inventat (The planet of the invented sea) for large children's choir and instrumental ensemble, all given their first performances in Barcelona, and also shorter but more complex choral works such as his Missa Brevis, from which the 'Alleluia', the 'Pater Noster' and the 'Magnificat' were given their first performances and subsequent performances by the Cor Vivaldi-Petits Cantors de Catalunya, in Catalonia and in Switzerland as well.
In June 1992 he conducted the first performance of the chamber opera From the Diary of the Hunchback Girl by the composer Shai Lifshitz in the Bachzaal of Amsterdam. He has conducted the Orquestra Simfònica de la Institució Cultural de les Corts and the choir of the Campus Nord of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, as well as the Chamber Orchestra of the Reial Cercle Artístic.
He has performed as a pianist in various venues in Catalonia and Germany. His creative work involving the piano was recorded on the compact discs Entre miralls (Between mirrors - 1998) and A mínim (At least - 2000). He has also given occasional performances on the organ.
The co-authored the musical No deixeu el meu somni (Don't leave my dream), which was first performed in Barcelona in 1998. He also composed music for the work On eres, Víctor' (Where were you, Victor'), first performed in Barcelona in October 2000, and he has written various choral works for mixed choir.
He is currently the conductor of the Cor-Xera of the Escola IPSI, the Coral Baluern and the Chamber Choir Tempus Musici, he being the founder and director of the latter.
