Born in Barcelona, he received his musical education at the Montserrat monastery school, at the Barcelona School of Music, in Salzburg with Bruno Maderna, and in Siena with Franco Ferrara, and he graduated from the School of Music and Drama of Vienna where he studied with H. Swarowsky and G. Theuring. He also studied Romance languages at Barcelona's Autonomous University.
He has won awards from the FEV and the Austrian Ministry of Culture, and also at the Second Hans Swarowsky International Conducting Competition, Vienna.
He has conducted the Maguncia Opera, the Barcelona City Symphony Orchestra (he also having been the main guest conductor with that orchestra), the Orfeó Català choral society, the Wurttemberg Philharmonic (Germany), and the Dusseldorf Symphony Orchestra. He is currently chief guest conductor with the Granada City Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor or the Chamber Orchestra of Israel.
Apart from his work as a conductor in Spain, he has also been invited to conduct in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Israel, Japan, Mexico and Poland, as well as being a regular guest conductor with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the orchestras of Leipzig, Saarbrücken and the Netherlands, and the Munich Philharmonic.
He has taught orchestral conducting at the Barcelona Higher Municipal School of Music, and is currently teaching conducting in Vienna in the Weiener Meisterkurse.
