Lluís Brugués i Agustí (Bordils-Gironès, 1949)
A musician and Doctor in Pedagogy, Lluís has worked as a teacher and director at the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory run by the Girona county council. He has also taught as a professor in the Education and Psychology Faculty at Girona University giving postgraduate courses on Musical Education. His doctoral thesis, Music in the City of Girona (1888-1985), was unanimously awarded an excellent cum laude grade. He has collaborated with the interuniversity Artistic Education doctorate programme and he is a member of the Art and Heritage Education research group.
Among other books, Lluís is the author of La Música a Girona: Història del Conservatori Isaac Albéniz (Music in Girona: the history of the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory of Music) (published by Girona county council, 2008) and co-author of the biographies of Joan Carreras Dagas (Girona city hall, 2014), Quan la música esdevé passió. Els germans Francesc i Joseph Civil (When music became a passion: the brothers Francesc and Joseph Civil) (Girona city council, 2016), Salvador Dabau Caussa (Girona city hall, 2018), and Gonçal Comellas. La integritat musical d’un violinista de referència (Gonçal Comellas. The musical integrity of a key violinist (Brau edicions, 2020). Lluís also wrote the chapter “El fet musical gironí durant la República i la postguerra: de l’eufòria al desencant” (Music in Girona during the Spanish Republic and post-war period: from euphoria to disillusions) included in the book La música culta a les comarques gironines: dels trobadors a l’electroacústica (Cultivated music in the Girona region: from troubadours to electroacoustic music) (CECB, 2015).
Lluís has published many articles in newspapers and specialist publications such as: Aurora Bertrana, la novel•lista del violoncel (Aurora Bertrana, the novelist who played the cello); Música al pas de les vestes (Music of Holy Week processions); Música de Lladó per a la Setmana Santa de Sevilla (Music by Lladó for Holy Week in Seville), etc., and biographical works on musicians including: Narcís Costa Horts, the Pitxot family, Guillem Soler (painter and musician), Pere Sais, Issi Fabra, and Mercedes Padrosa among others. He has given talks on artistic and musical themes at different conferences, congresses and symposiums as well as curating exhibitions.
