Octavi Rumbau Masgrau was born in Barcelona in 1980. He studied at the conservatories of Barcelona and Badalona, where he graduated in composition, musical theory and piano. He studied composition with Enric Palomar. Between 2001 and 2004, he participated in the composition courses of the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with Yoishihisa Taïra. In 2004/05, he continued his Studies at the ESMUC in Barcelona with Agustí Charles. He received the composition award at the 25è Concurs de Joves Compositors Frederic Mompou 2004 de Barcelona as well as at the 1er Concurs de Composició Dolors Calvet i Prats 2008. In 2007, Octavi Rumbau Masgrau was accepted at the National Conservatory of Paris, where he currently continues his composition studies with Frédéric Durieux. He has been commissioned works by Grup XXI, by the harpist Mercedes Gómez Benet and by Barcelona 216. At present, he has a scholarship of the Spanish and Catalan governments.Octavi Rumbau blogspot.
