Oriol Pérez i Treviño was born in Manresa, 1972. A musicologist and essayist, his professional work is dedicated to teaching and writing. Throughout his career he has combined his research with directing note-worthy projects such as the Xarxa de Músiques a Catalunya (Catalan Music Network), the Torroella de Montgrí Music Festival, the Robert Gerhard Centre, the Acadèmia 1750, and the L’Auditori music complex in Barcelona. In recent years he has devoted time to research into mysticism, spirituality and music, as well as collaborating with different academic and cultural institutions in Catalonia. Oriol is an editorial advisor for the 440 Clàssica magazine and has written prologues for books by authors such as Ernest Lluch, Arthur M. Abell and J. N. Forkel. Among other books, Oriol himself has written Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny (with Anna Bofill), El més gran dels romàntics: Robert Schumann (Schumann, the greatest of the Romantics), Quan canta la sibil•la (When the sibyl sings) (with Antoni Gelonch) and Robert Gerhard. Un Quixot amb noblesa d'esperit (Gerhard, a Quixote with a noble spirit).
He currently writes articles for the Entre Clàssics section of the NoSoloCine website and is a music critic for the El Punt-Avui newspaper. He is also a member of the editorial advisory board at DINSIC Publicacions Musicals, S.L.
