Works by
Ramon Roig i Perles
Ramon Roig i Perles, better known by people as 'Arengadetes', was a well-known musician born in 1867 and who died in 1915 in Vilafranca del Penedès. His father, who worked as a chair maker, had been a flageolet player, and it was he who taught Ramon his first music notions. He soon started learning the cornet, an instrument that made him famous around the country. He was known as the best cornet concertist of his time, and played around Catalonia with pieces written specifically for this instrument and orchestra. Afterwards, he formed and conducted his own orchestra, La Catalana, and he also composed a very extensive and varied repertoire. The works he wrote were often full of identifiable elements of the traditional music of the time, but more than anything else, they are characterized by their virtuosity.
