Conociendo la guitarra

This first book is an introduction to music in general, and to the guitar in particular. According to their personal experience, readers will go through it somewhat faster or slower. A sound knowledge of basic music concepts is undoubtfully useful. For now, no long developments are needed, but should in the future be complemented with studies in essential disciplines such as ear training and harmony.

Regarding the guitar, this book focuses in understanding the instrument as if it were one’s own musical imagination. I mean, fingerings and figures are necessary up to an extent, though we need to understand that such shapes depend on the construction and architecture of each instrument. Particularly, string instruments depend on the relative tuning between strings, which varies between cellos and double basses, lutes, etc. Other than the standard one, guitars have multiple other tunings.

The ideas on this book are general to any guitarist, style or type of guitar. It simply deals developing a language and a technique where everyone can explore oneself, to find what one really wants to say, and the way to say it. The path is a long one, yet it is a path…
