Serenata a l'Ateneu

After a life of studying, conducting and assimilating all sorts of classic, romantic, and contemporary music, and always keeping an eye on the latest aesthetic trends, a moment comes in life when, at least to me, everything changes. Mine was around seventy. Something told me “it is time for you to write and compose that which you truly think and feel; not that which you should, in order to blend in.
As result of this philosophy, I present you with this Serenata a l’Ateneu, a piece unbridledly written, for both the musician professors who play it and the audience to enjoy.
Written, and specially thought to the benefit of our abnegated little string orchestras in our Country, this work is also intended as a homage to all the Ateneus, Cricles, Libraries, Theaters, Foments, Casals, Trusts and Esplais of all our towns, villages and hamlets in Catalonia.
To all the patrons and artists who, since the 19th century, have ultimately and disinterestedly bestowed their members, friends, followers and neighbours with a collection of culture.
