The Composition Prize for Piano Dolors Calvet Prats was created to recognize the task of this composer and pedagogue, who was born in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) and died in Madrid, and to stimulate the creation of new repertoire for piano pedagogy. This was the goal when VINSEUM, Museum of the Cultures Wine of Catalonia, Ajuntament de Vilafranca del Penedès and Dolors Calvet’s family signed the agreement.
The Fourth Contest of Composition Prize for Piano Dolors Calvet Prats took place in 2013 and it was awarded in 2014. The jury was composed by Josep Soler Sardà (President), Alejandro Civilotti, Diego Fernández Magdaleno and Montserrat Rios Rallé. Eighteen works were presented in its fourth edition and the winner was “Suite per a piano VII”, which was presented under the pseudonym “Tottiko” by Gerard López. Another work was selected for its quality: “20 petites peces” by Antoni Besses.
