Mid-20th Century Shawm Music
In the mid-20th century, Catalan culture underwent the effects of a strong repression. In this volume of the Calaix de Solfa collection, is gathered the best shawm repertoire of a time when this instrument was nearly lost.
They are melodies by the two main shawm-player colles (groups, or folk-clubs) that survived the dark years of the dictatorship; the Macaris and la colla del Peret Pla (with Ros and Jan de Puigpelat). All pieces have been arranged to three voices as they were originally played.
