Piccolo concerto (MO)

Piccolo Concerto for violin and chamber ensemble is, as states the title, a small format concert, taking into account that concerts for soloist instruments are usually written for orchestras and other large ensembles.

It consists of six main parts:

I. Introduction-recitative, quasi cadenza
II. First path
III. Second path
IV. Cadenza
V. Third path
VI. Reencounter. Finale

The object of this division is no other than showing how music -- upon a statement in the form of a recitative -- flows into greatly different paths and junctions, to finally come together in the memories of the past. Each part is in fact a short movement that will intertwine a continuous discourse of great vitality and virtuosity, especially for the soloist instrument.
The work was comissioned by Peter Baccus, to be performed by Grup XXI and Manel Porta, the solo violinist responsible for the premiere of the concert.
This Piccolo Concerto is dedicated to Anne Marie North.
