The piece is the result of a commission to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, and it is written in the author’s customary language: contemporary, but close to the listener. Its theme is easily recognizable: Xavier Boliart humorously uses the principal features of the well-known song “Happy Birthday”. Then six variations appear, of which the first three are dedicated to each section of the cobla (woodwinds, brass instruments and percussion), and the last three, to the band in “tutti”.
