These 'Seven little Divertimenti' for alto saxophone and piano from the Barcelona composer Mercè Torrents feature, as in much or her work, an original kind of traditional-music inspiration.
They are intended as little learning pieces for concert performance for children and, owing to the ingeniousness of the composer, they go straight to the hearts of young saxophone players.
I hope that this music, in connection with the youngest performers, will help to fill the void existing in our country, thus supplementing the work already being done.
