This music (Drawing Randomness) is the result of a request I made to the composer Anna Bofill Levi, when I organized a concert as a tribute to celebrate her seventy-fifth birthday at the Barcelona Municipal Music School.
As I believed it would be an extremely worthwhile experience for piano students to work with this composer’s music and listen to the explanations behind her work and her creative process from Anna herself, I invited her to give a Masterclass on 20 February 2021.
Days later we held the tribute concert, where all my students played different pieces composed by Anna, on 8 March, coinciding with the celebration of International Women’s Day.
Since we have students following a range of courses from the first year of their music degree to the sixth, and given the difficulty of some of her pieces, I asked Anna to prepare some simple compositions which would be easier and more suitable for our lower-level students. These are the results of this idea.

The six pieces which make up the small suite Dibuixar l’atzar (Drawing Randomness) are short and each has a unique and contrasting character. They work with different aspects of piano technique and create a range of diverse atmospheres and sensations. The first three are less difficult than the other three.
