Mompeñas was the result, in October 2011, of
little impressions of Catalan music, poetry, and
tradition. The music is specially inspired by the
harmonies of Frederic Mompou, thus the name
Mompeñas. The text is inspired by a number of
poets such as Jacint Verdaguer (1845-1902), Maria
Mercè Marçal (1952-1998), Caterina Albert (1869-
1966), Mercè Rodoreda (1908-1983), among
others. There, elements characteristic of Catalan
folk culture will be found, such as the Castellers,
Pagès, Canigó, Sardana, etc.
