The present piece is the first one written for piano solo by Carles Guinovart. It dates from 1974 'a period in which the composer felt attracted towards the aesthetics of French music' shortly before he met O. Messiaen.

Under the generic and maybe somewhat dull name of Peça per a piano [Piece for Piano], rage and tenderness are hidden 'two contrasting feelings that confer the piece its dimension. Under the leadership of a thematic cell (C, Eb; B), which is presented at the beginning, the piece develops on the basis of stretches, which are left hanging (short fermata). The present piece is subtle and of a vigorous and delicate pianism, in which the pedal resonance and the ethereal presence of harmonic sounds create an atmosphere of poetical transparence. Thus, the timbral factor, which is used as an outstanding element, contributes to the essential substance of the ingredients.
