The music group 'Esquirols', born in the town l'Esquirol, in the heart of the Collsacabra, developed its work during the 70´s and the 80's, a moment of historic changes when singing in Catalonian was a total challenge. However, the panorama of 'la cançó' was effervescent with the bursting in of many groups and singers, and the political and social situation of the country opened new hopes towards the future. The songs of 'Esquirols' became part of a generation's soundtrack. Many young people from those years adapted them to sing them with their guitars, in meetings, excursions, festivals and claiming acts. Some of those songs, adapted, popularized and almost turned into hymns have passed to younger generations and have become one of the basic songbooks for school, excursion groups, scouts groups and leisure groups and they have been played by other musical groups as well.
