Tres obres per a cor

Three works for choirThese three songs are unrelated, each having a different origin both in terms of time and in terms of their conception and nature. However, all three are for mixed-voice choir singing a cappella, and avoiding registers that would be awkward for the voices.
These works are suitable for a choral group with some experience in singing together, the challenge lying in the collective performance as an ensemble rather than in any difficulties for individual voices.
The 'Nocturne', in moderato time, is full of nuances, with changes of momentum and the odd rubato, requiring the singers to follow the conductor carefully to bring out the full magic of the work.
'El bosc frondós' (The leafy wood) belongs to an original children´s cantata for untrained voices and instrumental ensemble, adapted here for four mixed voices. The magnificent text by Elena Bigas lends character to the work, the music being simply a backcloth for it.
'La cançó de tió' (The 'tió´ song, referring to a Catalan Christmas tradition involving logs) is also a song that is part of a Christmas cantata with texts by Elena Bigas and other specially written texts, originally for three equal voices, but adapted here for mixed choir. Care must be taken to ensure that the accompaniment does not dispel the cheerful, spontaneous nature of this accompanied melody, which at times is close in spirit to chidren´s songs.
