Martin's toys or The toys the Three Kings brought is a little suite of 4 songs that talks of different toys that may appear either in Martin's cupboard or on January 6, Kings' Day. This allows them to be sung at any time of year. The suite combines songs for one and several voices and in canon, so as to allow for the variety of technical possibilities of different choral groups.
Observations:
- 'Martin's toys or The toys the Three Kings brought' is designed for 4-to-7 year olds.
- Song 1 can be sung with 1 or 2 voices, depending on the age of the children.
- Song 2 is a Havanera that is quite easy to interpret in canon, but can also be sung not in canon.
- The text of Song 3 can be adapted to the instruments the children are most familiar with.
- Song 4 will be interpreted with the Shush, Shush' of silence at the end (last 4 beats). Here the toys will be adapted to the children's favourites
A small dramatisation can support the songs.
