Fantasia en Vermell

In 2008 I wrote two pieces that were in some way related to Albéniz. The occasion for these pieces was the centenary of the composer's death, which was to be celebrated in 2009. The Danses d'Ibèria [Ibéria Dances] for orchestra and the Fantasia en Vermell [Fantasy in Red] for piano include short (and often transformed) references to Albéniz's oeuvre.
The Fantasia is a piece in which short passages related to Albéniz are combined with rhythmical elements, sudden contrasts and a certain level of virtuosity. The piece is dedicated to the pianist Àlex Alguacil.
