it is a highly complex sardana that is especially rich in modulations and in imitative passages as a result of the constant utilisation and development of all the thematic material characteristic of the 'symphonic sardana' style proposed by Garreta. This is unquestionably the most difficult sardana to perform among all those composed by Ricard Lamote de Grignon.
Enyor (longing)
Of this sardana, composer and critic Josep M. Bernat writes: 'Their wedding anniversary was coming up soon and his wife had by chance gone to Barcelona. In the days awaiting her return, he wrote this delicate piece as a gift to her. It was the 8th of December, 1946.' Bernat goes on to say: 'It is, in keeping with the intention, an impassioned sardana abounding in choral passages, but always maintaining an airy, interrogative feeling. A dramatic entrance of long measures appears to signal a change in direction, but the passion persists, reaffirmed by the central melody. As if nothing were left to be said, the work ends simply and unexpectedly.'
