(...) As we can see clearly with this biography, Ros Marbà is a musician who has been successful in a variety of disciplines ranging from the orchestration of pieces written by other musicians to the creation of his own compositions: music for children, the opera Benjamin at Portbou, chamber music (he will soon be presenting Rondeau To Six for the first time), sardanes (traditional Catalan music), and arrangements of various musical pieces, including the Catalan anthem Els Segadors (The Reapers)… All in all, a wide and varied range of top-quality musical writing.
We must also remember the important work he carried out conducting the Barcelona City Orchestra. Ros Marbà once said that it had been the happiest time of his professional life.
I would not like to finish without explaining that this biography, magnificently researched and documented by the music professor Lluís Brugués, does not merely offer a vision of the life and career of a great musician, but also provides a wealth of information about the world of music in Catalonia and Spain in the second half of the twentieth century and start of the twenty-first.
