These orchestrations of piano pieces from Tchaikovsky's Album for the Young are intended for the student ensemble's first experiences with an orchestral sonority. The orchestral style of the great composer, applied in these easy pieces, is a perfect entrance point for the beginning orchestra because of his clear use of orchestral colors. The ensemble director is encouraged to have this style in mind and to foster it's perception in the ensemble work.These orchestrations are designed to be effective for groups ranging from a medium sized intermediate instrumental ensemble to a full symphony orchestra with the full compliment of instruments.
My wish is that young instrumentalists catch the orchestral 'bug' and therefore be encouraged in their further and continued study.
